Natural calcium carbonate is used in large quantities as a raw material for the building materials industry, as an aggregate in the steel industry, as a mineral fertilizer, as feed lime and as a mineral filler in various industrial applications (e.g. in papers, paints, varnishes, plasters, plastics).
The liquids involved in the common process are predominantly loaded with solids. The particle size spectrum ranges from 1 to 200 µm. The liquids are also highly corrosive, because pH values between 4 -10 are common, but pH values between less than 1 bi 4 can also occur.
