In Plan 52 there is an external reservoir providing buffer liquid for the outer seal of an Arrangement 2 seal. The buffer liquid shall be maintained at a pressure less than seal chamber pressure and less than 0.28 MPa (2.8 bar) (40 psi).

Note
Plan 52 works best with clean, non-polymerizing, pure products that have a vapor pressure higher than the buffer system pressure. Use the STB TS-9/TS-12 for better operating conditions.
The TS-System TS-QB-5 was developed for the supply of doubleacting and single-acting mechanical seals. It is used to build up the required fluid lubrication film between the sliding surfaces and to maintain it during operation. The circulation medium between the mechanical seal and the TS container is circulated by natural circulation (if the mechanical seal does not have an integrated circulation element). The minimum fill level of the barrier liquid is monitored by the integrated level-switch. With the TS-System TS-QB-5, a low-maintenance supply of mechanical seals can be guaranteed. The TS system is operated exclusively without pressure.
The Thermosiphon TS-9 is designed for the barrier fluid supply for mechanical seals. The main application areas are single mechanical cartridge seal with integrated throttle bush or double mechanical cartridge seals.

Also available as Plan 53A (pressurized)
The Thermosiphonystem TS-12 has a high volume for the barrier fluid supply for mechanical seals and additionally has a higher pressure range. It is available with a variety of options, like an integrated cooling coil, which has a higher cooling capacity.
