API Plan 54
In Plan 54, there is a pressurized external barrier fluid system
supplying clean liquid to the barrier fluid seal chamber. The barrier
liquid is maintained at a pressure greater than seal chamber pressure.
Barrier liquid is circulated by an external pump or pressure system.
Advantages:

The Thermosiphon TS-9 is designed for the barrier fluid supply for mechanical seals. The main application areas are single mechanical cartridge seal with integrated throttle bush or double mechanical cartridge seals.

NSE54
Designed especially for mechanical seals in high pressure surroundings, where an interruption of the barrier fluid is not allowed. These backfeed systems are designed to supply many mechanical seal support system or a number of mechanical seals by only one system. Over the past years, these types of systems have shown in field, to increase the lifetime of mechanical seals heavily.
