Mechanical seal support system made by STB

STB seal support systems are designed to keep high process security and are developed to seal products within their emission limits. Because of  those requirements, STB developed a number of different seal support systems. Main task of a seal support system is the cooling effect and a controlled lubrication of the mechanical seal faces. To reach that aim, a controlled flow of the medium (for example water, oil) is necessary, to have a cooling effect on the seal face, since the frictional heat is upcoming. This cooling effect, which will heavily extend the lifetime of a mechanical seal, is increased throughout mechanical seal design, with integrated pumping devices. The seal support system is also having the possibilities to work pressurized. The design and features can vary due to the application it is meant for. These different applications are defined by the American Petroleum Institute. Which mechanical seal support system works for your seal is reviewed in correspondence with our engineering staff.

The Thermosiphon TS-9 is designed for the barrier fluid supply for mechanical seals. The main application areas are single mechanical cartridge seal with integrated throttle bush or double mechanical cartridge seals.

The Thermosiphonystem TS-12 has a high volume for the barrier fluid supply for mechanical seals and additionally has a higher pressure range. It is available with a variety of options, like an integrated cooling coil, which has a higher cooling capacity.

The mechanical seal support system BEH-830 is an upgraded version with an integrated circulation pump (gear pump: flow rate 6 Liter/min, 1,59 gallons/min, depending on the barrier fluid to be pumped). The base system is available in 8 Liter (2,11 gallon), 10 Liter (2,64 gallons) and 15 Liter (3.96 gallons) support vessels. There are also the following options available:

For an optimal operation we recommend to use an STB Stand or base plate to ensure a certified sealing and tested piping. All sensors can be delivered in ATEX Zone 1 classification.

Designed especially for mechanical seals in high pressure surroundings, where an interruption of the barrier fluid is not allowed. These backfeed systems are designed to supply many mechanical seal support system or a number of mechanical seals by only one system. Over the past years, these types of systems have shown in field, to increase the lifetime of mechanical seals heavily.
